Amazement filled me when I found a certain book while browsing the shelves at my church’s bookstore. The book addresses a very distinct challenge that has affected my family in the last year. When I flipped through the pages, I found the encouragement and hope for which I had been praying.
I recognized the name and photo of the book’s author, Carole Lewis. I met Carole when she spoke at a meeting for Inspirational Writers Alive! (IWA!) a few years ago. And I heard the heartfelt message she shared last spring at the Celebration of Life service for her close friend and former IWA! leader, Martha Rogers.
I bought the book because of its content and my confidence in the author. The personal stories and practical tips Carole shares are so helpful. What a timely and sincere message for my family and me!
This experience reminded me of the value and blessing of Christian writers. It also inspired me to press on in my own writing endeavors. As we give and receive presents this Christmas, I wanted to share why I am grateful for the special gift of Christian writers.
Christian writers…
- are gifted communicators.
- are called by God to spread the Good News of the Gospel.
- have something important to say.
- have unique perspectives based on their firsthand experiences.
- encourage, help, inspire, and teach their readers and audiences.
- make a difference in people’s lives.
